Margie Blumberg

Margie Blumberg graduated from American University with a degree in business administration and from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She is a nonpracticing member of the Maryland Bar. While in law school, she spent many hours in the library reading Romeo and Juliet and drafting stories when she really should have been studying torts or contracts. Ultimately, the call of literature was too strong, and she followed her dream to become a writer, editor, and book publisher. Other books she has written include Avram’s Gift (illustrated by Laurie McGaw), The Scoop on Good Grammar, and Sunny Bunnies (illustrated by June Goulding). Margie Blumberg resides in Bethesda, Maryland, where she enjoys baking, biking, backgammon, books, and movies. Her favorite books include Battle Cry, Gentleman's Agreement, Marjorie Morningstar, Cast a Giant Shadow, Little Women, Charlotte's Web, No Roses for Harry, Make Way for Ducklings, and Put Me in the Zoo.

Three Things You Don’t Know About Margie:

 1. I love musicals. One of my favorite songs is "The Trolley Song" from Meet Me in St. Louis.

 2. When I was little, my favorite bedtime book was No Roses for Harry. I asked my mom to read it to me every single night . . . for a year!

 3. I entered my chocolate chip mandel bread cookies (a family recipe) into the Bloomingdale’s Chocolate Sundae Contest. I still treasure my third-place prize: tartlet pans and a loaf pan. When eating low-fat food was in vogue, I tried to make fat-free mandel bread by replacing the oil with applesauce. The cookies weren't edible, and they bent but didn't break, even after I threw them onto the floor as hard as I could!
